Some vintage Rodney Dangerfield from 1978.

vintage Rodney Dangerfield comedy 1978 - YouTube

Rodney Dangerfield guest starring as Larry Burns in the Simpsons. Not stand up I know but as soon as I saw that clip I thought immediately about this episode of the Simpsons which is worth its weight in comedy gold all by itself.

How does one pick 3 from the list below? I don't think that you can and my list is hardly definitive. You can make a list of 3 great comics but you can't come up with a list of the "greatest" when the criteria is based upon subjectivity.

Bob Hope
Phyllis Diller
Mom's Mabley
Red Foxx
Mel Brooks
Mort Sahl
Rodney Dangerfield
Cosby
Woody Allen
Lenny Bruce
Richard Pryor
Lewis Black
Steve Martin
Jerry Seinfeld
Eddie Murphy
Bernie Mack

Bill Cosby will always be my favorite, growing up we had all of his albums

here's a classic bit called Buck Buck (i love his sound effects)

I also loved Rodney, and early Carlin was great, but he got a little preachy at the end.

Very true!
But i don't think anyone can be subjective while they are laughing. All of those folks gave us all a lot of laughter.

George Carlin (Tonight's forecast--dark). Sam Kenison (OW! OW!). and, of course, Rodney (I tell you, I don't get no respect).

Andrew Dice Clay.

Just kidding.

I'd say George Carlin and Louis C.K. for sure. I'd have to think about the 3rd.
