Clearly not a vs fight on who would win since its quite obviously star wars would.
But out of these two franchises which is your favorite and why? What do you like and what do you not like about them?
Star Wars, especially as it evolved with TNG, DS9, and in particular STV there was a lot of creativity and imagination. Especially their exploration of the Borg.
Star wars began as essentially a swashbuckler, and offered little as to what I believe is the core of SciFi - a sense of wonder. Lucas was all about action. Nothing really about vision, which is the real core of SciFi.

I grew up on Star Wars, and "A New Hope" was and always will be my favorite space sci-fi film. A classic good versus evil, root for the under dog, farm boy turned hero feel good movie. An absolute all time classic that changed film making forever. I remember seeing it in the theatre as a kid when it was first released, and people actually cheered and applauded at the end, which I've never seen anywhere since.
The Empire Strikes Back was probably the best film of the three, and Return Of The Jedi was ok too. The prequels were all awful, and the whole expanded universe thing is just too much of a not so good thing. As for the new movie in production now, well, lets just say that I've got a bad feeling about this.
I always found the old Star Trek TV series too corny and very preachy, maybe it was too far ahead of it's time for it's own good. The Star Trek movies that came later were much better. I never got into the newer Star Trek generation shows, too many of them and too much in common with the old series. The new 2009 Star Trek film was actually pretty good, but I haven't seen "Into Darkness" yet.
All in all, Star Wars wins the day. Of course, this is all my opinion, and worth exactly what you paid for it. May the force be with you, always.
Star Wars is pretty no-brainer, focusing on special effects. It's fun to watch for that reason and that's pretty much the only reason.
The original Star Trek was low budget and had few, if any, of the modern technology but it was original. A bridge crew consisting of a Russian, a black woman, and an oriental? gasp A white man (Kirk) kissing a black woman (Uhura)? EEP!
Some of the story lines are old-hat today but back then, they boldly went where no show had gone before.
Live long and prosper.
