Here's some, there are too many to completely list. I recommend all the ones I have listed. Frankly, I've seen a lot of older movies that were crap, too. Sometimes people get so caught up in advocating older cinema that they forget it wasn't always good.

12 Angry Men - funny how watching this with a modern perspective, you can see how much other movies are based on it
Bridge on the River Kwai (one of my all time favs)
Rear Winow
Vertigo
On the Waterfront
Ten Commandments
Ben Hur
Touch of Evil
Citizen Kane
The Searchers
Stalag 17
The Day the Earth Stood Still
Casablanca
The Caine Mutiny

I think I've seen just about all of them. My daughter, 23, is watching them now and loves them. The older the better.

I also saw 2 abbott and costello movies from 1941/1942 and they were good.. (Dont like them too much but they are better than the crap out now)

dudue...I'll let you in on a little secret. Get A&C's tv shows that they did in the 50's. Personally, I liked them better than the films. The films were good but the shows are incredible. Znay zany stuff. I am not responsible if you get hurt laughing yer a** off.....ok?....;-).....

I'm 34 and prefer movies from the 1940s or older. I've seen (and own) many, but naturally there are still thousands I haven't seen, and many I have no interest in seeing. It actually sounds weird to me when someone refers to a 70s or 80s movie as "old" because I still consider those relatively new! I do like some newer movies, but overall they don't interest me much. The exception is animation, where I actually prefer films from the 80s and up (for the most part).

I just watched Strange Cargo with Clark Gable. It was a movie about convicts escaping a penal colony and Jesus is one of the escapees. It was pretty interesting. They did everything but come straight out and say "Hey, this guy is Jesus!" I guess it was controversial at the time, too.

Several but I saw them in the 1950s and 1960s, not recently.

note: I even enjoy watching Buster Keaton silent films.
