Stupid or smart. $1.00 candy at a dollar store or $4.50 the theater. Sure the noise is bad but that would also happen with leaving the tester during the movie for refills. Hopefully they do like me and my ex did, try and go when none else goes. Even when we had rustling, we never heard bad feedback.
There's no 'or' about it. Its stupid. Sneaking food in stupid and you pretty much have to be scum to do it. If you can't eat/drink before the movie and/or wait until after the movie... then you should follow the theater's rules.
I don't do it often. It was mainly when I dated my ex. I've only done that one since. Otherwise I didn't get anything or it was a meal a theater. As I think I if you want good food at a movie theater, AMC has a good chicken strip meal and a good pizza that are nearly market value. I agree that soda, popcorn and candy prices are a bit out there.
I do not get it. Why can't people go 2 hours without eating popcorn that costs $5.?
They can, but they choose not to go without. Some people want the popcorn and consider it part of the whole movie going experience. Unless the $5 is coming out of your pocket, what does it matter what someone else wants to do and how they want to spend their money?
I rarely go to the movies anymore. I've been averaging once a year since the first Lord of the Rings movie came out. For that reason, I do buy popcorn because the aroma is irresistible. It's part of the experience. I do, however, bring my own M&M's to sprinkle over the popcorn. As for drinks, I'll bring my own if I can but that's usually during colder weather when I have a coat/jacket. If not, I'll buy a drink. The prices are definitely outrageous but, for how few movies are worth paying that much to see these days, once a year isn't bad for buying snacks at the theater.
When I lived in Prague, Czech Republic, I was introduced to meat and cheese popcorn. What a shock that was! Now I miss it.
Buying snacks at the movie theater seems to be one of those things that people either do, or don't (and those who don't can get quite heated about it, like the guy who tried to sue a theater)
I've been with friends that refused to buy snacks and instead sneaked in food from the outside. I can understand those who refuse to buy anything, since the cost of drinks and snacks have huge markups.
Myself, I don't mind buying the soda and popcorn. To me it's part of the movie going experience, and I don't begrudge theater owners from trying to make money. After all, no one's forcing me to buy anything at the theater besides the admission ticket.
Normally I don't buy anything except rare occasions when I have a coupon which I might or might not use to get something.
