So last night I took a date to a Madonna concert. Great show- it was her "home town" show in Downtown Detroit and she was spectacular. What wasn't was the group of ladies sitting in front of us. We were in the upper section, tiered seating. Practically every song these ladies deemed it necessary to stand up and dance, totally blocking our view of the show. About six songs in I tap the shoulder of the lady sitting right in front of me and say "Excuse me, but my date and I are trying to enjoy the show and you are totally blocking our view. Would you mind sitting down?" Her answer? "Yes, I would mind." That's it. they continued to stand and dance the entire show. Moving was out of the question- our section was almost full and the ushers would not let us move to another section. So we ended up standing almost the entire show- and my date was only 5'4" tall so she was still getting her view blocked.

The previous concert I went to there was a lady sitting next to me who started to sing along to every song- and she sang horribly and LOUD! A few songs in I turned to her and said "I paid good money to come listen to Bonnie Riatt sing, not you. Could you please not sing?" She just gave me a dirty look, said "Whatever" and kept singing. This time I was able to move a couple rows down to some empty seats.

A couple years ago I was at an outdoor venue, lawn section. There was a large group of guys- I'm guessing barely drinking age- sitting right behind us and getting obnoxiously drunk. In between acts suddenly my girlfriend ends up with a full cup of beer dumped all over her back. An apology? Nope- nothing but "Sh*t! That beer cost me seven bucks!" Halfway into the final act two of the guys got into an all-out fight. Security came and ejected just the two- not the rest of the guys even though by then they were all plastered.

Is it time for this 31 year-old man to stop going to concerts? Can't believe the way people behave sometimes.....

If you expect people to sit down all through a Madonna concert, then YES, it's time for you to stop going to concerts. Wow. It's not the symphony.

Lol reading this makes me glad I don't go to concerts anymore.....

Totally not worth the aggravation.
One of the more recent concerts that made me realize this was a concert here-
Rascal Flatts...
Literally everywhere around us fist fights were breaking out, people were totally
drunk, lawn chairs flying--& even stretchers were taking people out....

No thanks

Wow ... I've been to 4 or 5 Rascal Flatts concerts and sat on the lawn every time ... I've never seen what you describe. Drunk people, sure. But no fights, no flying lawn chairs, and the only stretchers I saw were for people overcome by the heat.

Last cheap concert I went to was the American Idol concert in DC...thanks, but no thanks. Last one I'll ever attend (besides Celine Dion's).
I guess American Idol attracts drunks??? The couple that was seated behind me and my mother were so drunk that both of them spilled their beer on me and blamed me of all people for it. LOL okay.

Try going to a concert of a teen heartthrob (former or current). People lose their damn minds and not in a good way.

I love music and I love supporting my artists but I can't stand the fans as a whole. In fact they're the reason I started to have a problem with my gender. Many times they're screaming like you'd think they were having a heart attack DURING THE SONG. I came here to hear him not listen to you psychos.
At the last one I went to someone was yelling "take your shirt off" This is not a porno or a scandalous magazine spread! Another was shouting "I love you" and right after another one shouted "I love you more" I got so miffed I turned off my quiet nature and shouted "it's not a competition!!!!" I don't know if they heard me or not but it did get quieter after that. Then when I went to meet him one girl in line was fixing her hair repeatedly. I just rolled my eyes at that. Another was wearing an outfit where her bra clearly stuck out (her friend fixed it before it was our time to go but still) I love him so that only makes it even more ridiculous to me. Granted I am probably older than these girls but still..I never went to these extremes even when I was younger. The thirst of these girls is so unreal.
Luckily it wasn't at mine but it was one for him at around the same time, women were fighting randomly during a song. It got so bad apparently that the police threw them out. There were also a lot of people smoking the herb which would bother me because it makes me sick to have to smell it.

As far as the singing to every song, I think you should let that one go. Part of a concert is about engaging. No matter how bad the person is at singing they're having fun. Personally I'm quiet at concerts because I know I'm out of tune but that's just me since I don't like to draw attention to myself (so I guess if I was actually an exceptional singer I would be quiet then too) I guess if you can't hear the artist because of them though then maybe that's a little different.

There's nothing new about this. Ever hear of a little band called The Beatles? Their fans routinely went apesht crazy with hysterics.

I attend a lot of rock concerts (13 this year), and many, many performers actively encourage the audience to sing along. They hold the mic out to the fans to pick up on the singing, turn the house lights on toward the crowd, and even stop singing themselves so the voices in the audience can be heard. Just turn on VH1 or Palladia channels on TV to see some concerts and festivals to see how this has become the worldwide norm.

I love that, actually lol
Those are some of the coolest moments of my favorite concerts....
Singing along in unison, w/ the artists, the crowd....it's enchanting
Springsteen, John Mayer, John Mellencamp- they are notorious for that...

But the stupidity at concerts.....
Is mind numbingly annoying
