Star Wars wasn't overmerchandized 30 years ago? Thats a laugh. They'd put Star Wars crap out of every type imaginable. Toys, clothes, light sabers, cups, cartoons, food. Back in the 80s I had Star Wars bedsheets and a R2-D2 pencil sharpener. I think some of the older posters here are getting forgetful in old age; it was as much a merchandise cash cow then as it is now.

True plus one can't forget about the now defunct fast food chain Burger Chef and their Star Wars promotions. Some of those old 1977 ads can easily be found on the net. Oh and there was that theme from Star Wars ( Meco ) that so many top 40 radio stations had played the heck out of back in 1977 & 1978. Star Wars in the theater, on TV, in the stores, on the radio,...one really couldn't get away from it had they tried.
