I am an aspiring filmmaker who's next project in an indie film type one. There is a scene where some characters are smoking cigars, and they are suppose to be the large, fat kind.
However, most indoor locations, that will allow a movie crew to shoot would not be okay with the place being stinky afterwards.
My gf once in a while I notice will have a menthol cigarette occasionally, and they do not leave a smell hardly in the place afterwards. The menthol cancels out a lot of the smell, and the place goes to smelling back to normal in a few hours, all the time a film crew would need really.
I tried looking for big fat cigars that are either menthol or fruit flavored to cancel out the smell, but could not find any, online or anywhere. It seems the only ones that I can find are the thin ones. But does anyone know of any companies that make fruit or menthol flavored large cigars, that I can use?
Okay thanks. But an E cigar, you can still tell is not a real tobacco cigar. You can totally tell on the camera footage, if it's e-cigar.
I can't have the character smoke an e-cigar, cause it's just not in his character. It would be like giving Mad Max an electric car, and it just wouldn't work similarly.
So are there any tobacco cigars that are large and thick, but menthol or candy flavored?
The word you are searching for is not "stinky", but "funk," which literally means the stale tobacco smell in rooms. You might be able to clear the smell using ozonators, but those can damage or discolor some plastics. Your real choices may to ditch the cigars, do a "Perry White" (who always chewed a cigar but rarely lit one), or find a location that will accept the funk.
