Definitely Mama Mia over Grease, especially with young girls. The show Grease is not nearly as fun and endearing as the film. It comes across on stage as "nice girl goes slutty, sleeps with boyfriend to keep him, all set to music".
Mama Mia is a hoot- you will be dancing in the aisles. My vote is for ABBA!
I dont know Mamma Mia, but I agree about Grease. Even my six-year-old daughter was able to whisper sotto voce re Sandy's transformation: "She's on the wrong path."

With the 1950's theme and fun costumes and great music, you'd think this would be family appropriate. The movie version had OLDER actors in it (who thought that Olivia Newton-John, John Travolta and Stockard Channing were 17/18???? Please...). But onstage, with actual 15, 16, 17 year olds- it was disturbing. The theme is still "in order to keep the cool guy, you have to sleep with him"- and with younger actors, it is uncomfortable to watch live. With the film (that I loved), I thought Sandy and Danny's sex life was shifted to a more romantic one. Good marketing ploy! But the stage version is different. JMO
