It's happened before, where I after they finish a short film for me, I will throw a wrap party for everyone, to show my appreciation, or in our appreciation, if there is more than one producer, but the others don't want to come. Maybe it's not a bad sign and they just want to work together, but not actually hang out at a party after, and it's not a bad sign, and fine maybe?

What do you think, any experience there?

No personal experience, but, yes, I'd consider it a bad sign.

On the other hand, if it was a short film, and you all worked together only for a short time, maybe no one "bonded."

A wrap party should be no more than 1/100th of the effort put into the production. Maybe it's simply a matter of a brief gig not really justifying attendance at a "company party."

Sometimes it's just that particular set of personalities. I've been on teams that always wanted to get together outside of work hours. Currently I'm on a team of great individuals, but they are just not into hanging out at social events. I wouldn't sweat it much.

I think it is disrespectful.

Perhaps, but also shows that the crew isn't interested to attend any social functions outside their work, nor like their boss much.

Yeah, people tend not to want to hang out with their boss.

Oh okay, well it was a volunteer project where everyone worked for free, so I thought that they would like food and drinks, I mean who wants to turn down those as a show of appreciation...
