The place only had around 9,427 less than half. While my first show back in 1998 was at the then "Pepsi Arena" and it was awesome packed sellout show. The crowd was on their feet all night long.
I'm too old, and impatient for that stuff now.

LOL... 1998 represents the 'good old days when concerts didn't suck'?
Pretty sure in 1998, people were carping and bitching that concerts 'used to be good but now they suck'. In fact, I'm pretty sure that people have always been saying that.

I stopped going to concerts a long time ago, but when i was going to some I saw Harry Chapin in concert. I would have never known there was a sequel to "Taxi" had I not gone.
That said, there are few acts that play enough songs to make it worth the money compared to getting them on iTunes for about $1.25 each.
On the other hand, if Pink Floyd were still touring...

I go to free or near free concerts and music festivals. It is quite a fun time!

How can you not like concerts? As long as you see artists whose work you enjoy, it's a great time. For my money, it's one of the best investments out there for having a good time. Plus you'll probably hear some songs you may not be familiar with. I have great memories of all the concerts I've been too and that's something I'm more than happy to pay for.

I thought of this thread earlier this morning when I paid an ungodly amount of money for decent Rolling Stones tickets. They are my favorite band of all time and still perform at a high level. I also know that despite the fact that they keep defying the odds, they won't be around forever. My wife and I aren't typically big spenders, but we allowed ourselves this splurge for what will hopefully be a great night that we will remember for many years to come.

One of my greatest regrets is passing on going to see John Denver in Baltimore a week before his plane crash. We had multiple tickets for free, but we were both so tired that day, plus nobody wanted the other tickets we had. I was a big fan, after being in the USAF, going to tech school in Denver, when Rocky Mountain High came out.

I think we all have those regrets. I am lucky to have seen most of my favorite artists in concert, but there are a few I missed and it saddens me to know I will never have the chance. As far as the Stones who I mentioned, I have gone to numerous concerts in the past, but I am very excited to see them again. I am 37, so fairly young to be a fan of theirs, but they are my absolute favorite band. I last saw them in 2015 and at the time was 90% certain it would be the last time I would see them live. When rumors of their upcoming tour popped up my wife and I decided we would travel to see them if necessary. We lucked out and they are coming to our town. We are fortunate enough to be able to afford good seats and we splurged, as I'm almost certain this will be our last chance. Despite the fact that they still perform at a high level and keep defying odds, they can't truly live forever. Charlie Watts will be 79 by the time they make it to our city!
To quote one of their more famous songs, and to answer the OP's question again, "I know it's only rock 'n roll but I like it".

I have a John Denver story, that got me another John Denver story. And I don't even like John Denver!
The original story was that in the early days of intimacy between my fiance and I, I was eagerly anticipating a visit to his home one Friday night. (To the extent of wearing lacy things under my clothes all day at work, even.) I got there, and could not wait to show off...yet his reaction was underwhelming. Well. He tied me up, and I thought fun stuff was gonna go down...he put a blindfold on me, and I thought, "Oh here we go" and he put headphones on my ears, and I thought, "Um...ok...well..."
Seems all he wanted was for me to hear his favorite John Denver and Dan Fogelberg songs, two musicians who are nowhere NEAR my own musical tastes (and he knew it) and when he'd played said songs he untied me, told me to get dressed, and we went out. No frisky business that night! He says he likes to "Zig when I expect him to zag." Well, I can't complain, I'm marrying him anyhow.
So I told that story, to the singer of a band I like one night, when they were playing here in Colorado Springs, after I overheard him mention John Denver. And he told me HIS John Denver story.
He had a bit of land in the Pacific Northwest, and he was selling a tractor. A man showed up to buy his tractor, that he SWEARS looked like John Denver, only aged the appropriate number of years of course, same smile, same mannerisms, and he says that he now believes that John Denver faked his own death and is quietly living in a remote spot in the PNW somewhere, and that John Denver bought his tractor.
Never know...
Anyhow. Concerts.
I'm seeing one of my favorite live acts this Friday night in Boulder, March Fourth Marching Band. They're a sort of fun, circusy, big band act from Portland. One thing I love about their shows, is that in general I'm a very self conscious person when it comes to dancing. I'm not good at it, and I don't like feeling as though people might be watching me and judging me. I'm not very coordinated. But at these shows...the energy is so high you can't stand still, and when you look around and hundreds of people are dancing, and plenty of them look less than professional about it, no one is gonna notice if I'm not perfect or whatever, so it's just about the only environment where I feel comfortable dancing. Let alone have FUN doing so. I'm really looking forward to it!
