I would not want to see it redone. The original movie was excellent. The original tv series was great. Atlantis was ok, it had decent highlights but didn't stay strong. Universe was so bad I didn't make it past the 4th episode. Never saw the prequel series but I heard it really deviated from cannon and wasn't well liked.
So, from that history we can see it's just been all downhill. I can't imagine a redo being better than we've already had.
As Fonzie would have put it, a re-boot would jump the Shark!
Reboots generally have more special computerized effects and less acting. The original is still good and watchable. Maybe, they can just upgrade some of the colors and visuals on the original movie rather than a remake.
That movie was awesome. I dont think it needs a remake. A sequel done right showing what happened with the Stargate after the first film ended could be good.(not related to the series) I would not mind them revisiting Ra's liberated homeworld to see James Spader and his intergalactic friends. Recruit them for a new mission as a new menace arises. It worked with the last Blade Runner movie that was released.
The TV shows were fun to watch despite some cheesiness.
The original movie was one of the best and a favorite of mine. Remake is out of the question for me. What could they possibly do to improve it? Any sequel without some of the same actors, wouldn't do it any justice either.
Even if some of the same actors from the movie were in a sequel that takes place before the actions win the series, we might have to dismiss everything that happened in the series. For it to succeed, they would probably have to go in a different direction than the series, and continue the new direction in future sequels. That, and it would have to be very good or it will bomb terribly.
