Gen z is more likely to worship one celebrity or another.

I thought this plague was abating but its getting worse.

Young people have been glorifying celebrities forever. This is nothing new. The only difference is that now celebrities are more accessible because of the internet and social media. That's not going away. So you'd better get used to it.

I remember people talking about the death of celebrity culture and how young people are too cool for that stuff with the internet.

I thought the internet would make celebrities less powerful as individuals made their own content, but the exact opposite is happening.

You definitely thought wrong. The internet has created MORE celebrities. Now you have random YouTubers being viewed as celebrities.

Yeah.

I wish gen z would be better, but they treat these people just like hollywood celebrities.

Only difference is they are more dedicated than even way back in the 1990s.

At least in the 90s there was a hint of irony with celebrity worship, now people think celebrities are their friends.

Why does ANYONE glorify celebrities? Why would anyone listen to them? They live in a fantasy world and more often than not believe their own hype. Lol

Weren't you ever young? It's normal. In 1972 or so, I wrote Donny Osmond a love letter. My room was decorated with pictures of David Cassidy as a kid, and then as a teen I had a 5 foot poster of Peter Frampton over my bed. My mom swooned over Frank Sinatra. My brother idolized sports heroes. It doesn't mean anything.

Elvis was not produced. Elvis was one of the most important players in the birth of rock and roll. He became a star because if his talent in songwriting, singing, his unique style in combining R&B with rock. Why do you need to take away from what he contributed to music by implying he was just a face that fit what producers wanted?
