We watched it and despite my strong dislike of awards shows I thought this one was pretty good. I suspect the Oscars will be awful.
The presenters came on-stage and did straightforward presentations of awards, no sorry attempts at humor like the Oscars, no inside-hollywood jokes, no winner rattling off long lists of names of people who work behind the scenes but mean nothing to the viewing audience.
One way to improve tonight's show was to have presenters not try to read to us off of a teleprompter, that was painful to see and it's a bit insulting to have them read it off to us when they can barely read it for themselves. It would be better if they just did a voice-over while clips of each show was up for us to see.
