I have envisioned living amongst people who are similar to us with a sense of community and creating close friendships. We believe strongly in the slow food movement and knowing where things come from and how they are made. Living as naturally as possible and having a community I could finally feel comfortable in, rather than having people look at you funny for living bpa free, cooking with stainless steel, wanting to eat healthy. Choosing to use homeopathics and seek out naturopaths. Am I living in a fantasy land? I thought such a place could if anywhere exist in oregon.Vegetarian friendly places would be nice too. We also support independent companies, and 9-11 truth as well as chemtrails and other such things that seem preety out there to most people. I like old fashioned things and living the way they did years ago and I had hoped to find kindred spirits like this in oregon.

The Back To The Land movement started in Oregon 40 years ago. There are people who have been living that lifestyle for generations. They tend to be more fundamental and a lot less faddish than your typical urban immigrant. You missed Spring Fair at the Douglas County Fairgrounds, but farmers markets are opening all over the state. There is one in just about every county, and in some areas one in every town. You might also ask on Craigslist for your target areas.

Where in Oregon do you want to live? There are a number of eco villages in Portland, some formal and some just groups of neighbors sharing resources (watch on Craigslist in the housing area), but I'm not sure if you're looking for a more rural concept (I imagine you can find communities outside of the city, too). Hang out with the peak oil/transition movement folks (lots in the PNW), and I'm sure you'll find some who swing all the way into the government conspiracy theory stuff.
