Susan, I know you read this all the time, DON'T MOVE HERE, to Eugene and Lane County, as you planned! Through my contacts in the city and the county, I have found out, the government's are planning on instituting 2 huge massive new taxes on newcomers , they go back 10 years! The machinery is already rolling, and there's no way to stop it, the loopholes in the law are iron clad. -- even on retirees, one of the taxes would devastate their incomes. Tell all your friends too, don't move here, I'm going to sell my house as soon as I can, for what ever I can get out of it, and leave and move far out of the county.--
YOU KNOW WHO

I'm really curious what the heck you're talking about. What new taxes?

And really... all this chicken little behavior of yours on these threads is not going to help you sell your house and land so you can move away. People do actually read this stuff before they choose to relocate here.

I said pretty much the same thing in reply to one of his/her very negative posts in another thread.

If I were in the market for a new home as a transferee, I would definitely not buy anything from someone so negative about the area in which I was contemplating my move.

No wonder this person cannot sell the house.

I can't verify either way. I have never heard of any of these things from people I know who used to live in Eugene. Links backing up the statements would be helpful.

I asked a city councilor that we know (our kids are friends) and they hadn't heard a thing. And I trust that this person would have told us the truth, we have known them a very long time.

Of course it is rubbish.

Also, if this were true, the OP should be happy with this back-dated tax considering it does not effect them and they already dislike the the people this woulllld effect, the transplants. You'd think it would encourage many to leave and/or many to never come. Isn't that a good thing in your perspective, OP?

If this were actually true, doesn't it seem likely that one of the local TV stations or a newspaper or something would have made some mention of it?
