Hello, I am trying to find a temporary room for my son, who is homeless in Eugene, OR. The VA is trying to find him houseing, but that takes time. They are also trying to straighten out a problem with his disabilaty $, and that takes time. In the meantime, he is in a motel, but i can't afford to pay $280.00 a week. Does anyone have a room i can rent for him? I could afford around $100.00 a week or $400.00 to $500.00 a month. He has a service dog. He needs a room for a month or two. I am in Syracuse, NY. I would send you the rent money. Thanks for any help you can give us. Ray

The City Council just made it legal to tent camp in car camping parking spaces as well. If he has a vehicle he can car camp or tent camp in designated car camping spots in the city. There are winter shelters that open up when the temp drops as well.

Haggardhouseelf, Thank you very much for all the info. My son is on the waiting lists of these places and it will take a month or more to get a place. That is why i was looking for a rental by the month. Thanks again! Ray If anyone knows of a room, please let me know.

You might think about putting an ad on the Eugene Craigslist. There might be people willing to rent out a room for a month who don't ordinarily do so.

Talking Homeless Veteran

Would your son want to be in the Umpqua area as a temporary alternative to Eugene? I would be willing to discuss options for a room here in the Umpqua area -- 10 miles outside of Sutherlin. We are considering a short-term arrangement for a Vet.

Hello Lynde, I sent you a personal message a few days ago, maybe it didn't go through. My son has to go to VA meetings every Wed. and other times also. Is there a bus to Eugene? How far are you from Eugene? How much would the rent be? Thanks for your concern.
Ray

Hi Ray,

There is also www . airbnb . com that you can check out. It is for people that already have extra rooms they rent per night, perhaps they would make a deal?

If your Q was not answered about Roseburg, it is a 1.25 hour drive (less for the woman offering a space as she is North) and there are no bus systems.

Good luck!!
