I am moving to Eugene this fall with my Significant other. She is entering a graduate program at UO. We are trying to look for apartments but we don't know where good areas to live in that are close to campus. i have heard Harlow and anywhere in the I5 corridor is not great but that could be false. Any hints would be helpful thanks a bunch.

Immediately east of campus is good for grad students but slightly pricey for nice places. Immediately south of campus is also good for grad students. In this direction, there are a lot more choices. It depends of course on how far away from campus you can accept.

The Harlow area is across the river, a pretty good distance from the campus. Plenty of grad students live over there, but from my point of view (totally objective, of course!), it has some shortcomings. Firstly, it's physically separated from campus by the river. It's holds a oddly wide range of lower middle to upper middle class houses/apts. Most of all, it totally lacks the Eugene liberal thinker vibe.

As a VERY rough rental cost estimate, start at $400 per bedroom. It ranges up or down from there according to quality, proximity, condition, size, house vs. apt, etc.

I know a lot of students and the area West all the way to the city limits along both sides of Amazon Bike Path have a large number of students.
