Sadly, I agree with dogflower about the teaching opportunities. A family member of mine has a master's degree in teaching and couldn't find a job in Portland... substituting has been very helpful though. Salaries are much lower here than in California as well unless you were to get a transfer perhaps? Good luck!

My Neice graduated and got her teaching job immidiatly. That was four years ago. She is a local from a well established family. She survived two layoffs with less senority. Today there is no hiering unless somebody dies in the middle of the school year
