Hello,

Moving to Eugene tomorrow!

I'm curious to know if anything is open 24 hours; grocery stores, gas stations, fast food/restaurant, coffee shop... maybe a gym?

I'm a night owl so I'm thrilled that there are lighted walking paths and I've already picked out my 24-hour box access post office. I'll also be at Walmart in the middle of the night on occasion.

So other than that are there any other all-night or late closing hot spots for a thrill-seeker like me?

Thanks, s : )

A lot of things are open quite late, but only a small number of businesses are actually open 24 hours. The Shari's chain of restaurants are 24-hour. There are two in Eugene and two in Springfield. That's good to know because a lot of other restaurants close by 10:00 -- sometimes by 9:00 -- as there just aren't the numbers for them to stay open later. Sweet Life Patisserie is open till 11:00 pm. Many of the supermarkets are open quite late -- Safeway till 2:00 am, for instance. In general when you want something open at 3:00 am or so, it's either 24 Hour Fitness or the university library during exam week (that's 24-hour for exam week only)!

There are a lot of 24 hour places. Look around when you get there. Careful on those lighted pathes Rapes are no stranger to Eugene and the walking paths.

Well, I guess anything's possible, but anyone who tries to attack me is most likely going to be on the losing end... because I have skillz : )

And I don't mean karate!

Just when the food sticker shock was going to do me in I checked out WinCo. Cheaper than Cali! But, no credit cards? That's just uncivilized! I haven't carried cash in ages, so time to re-wire.

Yay WinCo! Thanks for the tip!

I'm afraid of debit cards. I lose things and I keep my checking account balance pretty high to keep it free. It may be irrational, but I think it's too easy to have my account wiped-out. Better safe than sorry.
