My Ex Wife worked for Spectra Physics in Eugene and they sent her to a Japanese language immersion program just before they shut down the US Manufacturing portion of the plant on West 11th. It was local to Eugene, but I don't know where.

As someone else mentioned, the crime in most of Eugene is opportunistic. If you are smart and keep valuables out of sight and things locked up and windows and doors closed, you should be fine. Not to say that things never happen, but it does seem to me that most people who have trouble also do things that sort of invite trouble into their lives.
