I'm looking for any information that people can give me on this section of Eugene. I'm looking to move specifically to Burnett Ave out about as far west as you can go. The area looks like a normal residential neighborhood and the house is located right across from a big park, which is great because I have animals. How is this area in terms of crime, and other stuff like that? Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Are you from the Eugene area or moving from afar? I know the area generally fairly well but don't know that particular set of blocks.

It's a working class area, and the issues have most to do with transportation to jobs, house quality, and air quality. Crime by the stats is pretty low, though certainly like anywhere else people worry about it (ACTIVE BETHEL CITIZENS)

On the whole I think it's a pretty decent working class neighborhood (and the parks around Peterson Barn are nice), if you like what you're getting in the house for the price. This article has a map of the primary area industrial air pollution sources, and you'd be west of most of them and not immediately proximate. Bad Air Days | eugeneweekly.com

Burnett is a newer area with a lot of newer homes and a tone of cookie cutter apartments. It is not really a part of the traditional Bethel/Danebo Area. Everything out there is new, busy, and safe. The apartments nearby off Barger can be a source of petty and meth driven car clouts.

When I was young the Barger area was mostly white trash and sketchy. But that has changed now. My Son lives there and my Uncle built the first tract homes there in the 1970's so I know the area pretty well. In fact I am on my way tomorrow to just a few blocks from where you are considering.

The area you are looking at has little to do with the older area around Peterson's Barn. In fact it is a considerable distance to the south of Burnett Avenue.

I'll be there in about two hours so I can give a personal up close look. My journey today will take me too the Apartments up behind Papa Murphy's and the Food Warehouse so I'll be in the neighborhood.

I've been in some of the newer developments out there and they are more upscale, but I didn't think the particular neighborhood he posted was one of those developments. I looked at Google Maps to try to gauge that and the street view still looks like much older housing, though it's possible Google has a much older photo.

And I agree, you wouldn't walk to Peterson barn, and the available housing may differ. but I think it's a nice community center for the area generally especially for the OP presumably being new to Eugene.

You are right. It was not where I thought it was. I traveled the entire length of Burnett Avenue today and it is an older neighborhood. One of the originals from the 1920's to 1950's with mixed newer homes, but essentially a crappy neighborhood. Sorry. Wisconsin Avenue around Cody was OK, but Dakota from Cody back to Burnett is a meth haven and poor white trash.
