about 3 weeks ago my husband and I came home to find my best friends ex husband had broken into our house. My best friend had moved the week before out of state.
We pulled into our driveway to find him on our front steps with our stuff in his hands. He threw down the stuff and threatened both of us in our driveway. My husband called 911 while all this way going on. he sped off in his car and returned about 10 minutes later and just sat if front of our driveway in his car. We called the police a again. About an hour later they showed up, took pictures of our broken door and statement.
They called him and told him to stop. that was all
now today i ran into this person again- he threatened me and said
"your stupid cause you'll never know when i'll show up again"
called the detective in charge of the case nothing he could do since he never said " i'll beat you up"
and today the DA will not follow up on the case- even though we had two witnesses that saw him on our step with our stuff
what should i do?
Bigjuan

Try calling the Lane County Victim Services section of the District Attorney's office to see if they can offer any advice - maybe they can help getting a protective order. 541-682-4523.

If I were you I'd go visit a gun store, go to the range and learn how to shoot.

Last night on the CBS affiliate in Houston there was a story about this subject. The essence of the story was that if you do decide to shoot an intruder, be prepared to spend a lot of money to defend yourself.

Yeah, if you want to "self-defend" in your own home, with a gun, you are better off in Colorado where they passed a "make my day" home defense law. Not recommended as a tactic anywhere else. The restraining order is much easier route to go, if you can't afford it contact legal aid.

I think the protective order is a good idea when he violates it maby they can do something about that. Maby get a video camera for evidence. any time you see him in town take a cell phone photo for proof and the more you bug the police the more they will do . Don't give up it could cost your life.Call the local news paper or tv station and talk about what happened and what the police arn't doing.Make a big scene if you see him in public. witnesses r good. get a dog a big big dog.
good luck let us know how it works out
