Hi! I have read some of the posts from previous people wondering about moving there. Now being from ND I am not too terribly concerned about snow or anything. What I am wondering about is if there is as much freezing rain as I have heard. Also I am wondering if it rains as much as everyone says in the winter.

A few other questions I have are about the economy. People have said that it is very difficult to find a job there. Is crime bad? What are the summers like. We come from a humid part of the country and one of the people I am moving with is concerned she will be cold in the summer.

We plan on visiting there between August and October and are wondering how we are going to find a good place to live in a good neighborhood without knowing the area. Are there some areas we should stay away from while looking for places to rent?

I am open to hearing about anything so the more responses the better. Thank you so much in advance I look forward to hearing from everyone!

I'm not a big fan of Eugene but in general, this part of the state has a great climate. The summers are great, you won't be cold.

The rain doesn't bother me one bit. I still ride my bicycle to work in the winter, hike, etc. The rain doesn't come down hard, more of a drizzle most of the time. Not like you see back there. And it barely rains at all from late may until late October/early November.

Granted, I did come here from SW Arizona, where the lack of rain drives you bonkers. It got me to where the sun depresses me and I'd rather have clouds and some rain.

I can't speak for Eugene, but I am actually leaving the area because of lack of good paying career opportunities in my field, at least in the immediate area (Corvallis/Albany). Portland and Salem have pretty good job markets, also worth looking into. I like Salem more than Eugene, seems cleaner. People bathe frequently.
