I am wondering if KEZI is asking too much (but I don't know the details).
They only have a small amount of unique programming, not also available on other ABC stations.

Does Direct TV provide the ABC channel out of Portland, to cities near Portland (such as Corvallis and Eugene) or only the local one?

I don't already have Direct TV, I use an antenna right now, but am considering something else.
ABC matters, KEZI not so much.

Does anyone know the details? Is DTV asking for more than other providers are, in which case using another provider may make sense.

I don't understand what you're asking about KEZI. What would that station be asking, regarding free, over-the-air broadcasts? The broadcast network channels that the satellite and cable providers offer, are the local affiliate stations. Unless you're using TIVO, the local channels cost you nothing over your antenna.

I got KEZI over the air, but when I switched to cable, I got ABC out of Portland. However, I am in Bend, not Eugene and cable will offer local stations, so I get my local station. I don't know about satellite TV, though. I think you get whatever the rest of the country is getting.

You could call Direct TV and ask them.

I do believe that both Direct TV and Dish TV offer local affiliates in the area you are living.

In Eugene, KEZI and Direct TV are fighting again. It appears that on August 10th Direct TV will drop KEZI (ABC). We switched to Dish about 4 months ago. We now get the Pac 12 network, which we wanted, and Dish seems to offer roughly equal programming. Dish is much harder to navigate through and the remotes are hyper-sensitive.

We will not get to see the Oregon Ducks game this sat. Why, because we have direct tv here in Florence.
