I visited Eugene this past weekend.... didn't have a chance to ride the local transit system, but did see a lot of buses around, so it looks to be fairly extensive. Corvallis has a smaller transit system, and a shuttle that goes to Albany. And while driving the coast I've noticed the minibuses that go out to the coastal towns from Salem or Eugene, and also connect the coastal towns with each other. But, is there a way to travel from Eugene to Corvallis (or Albany) on transit? Or are Greyhound & Amtrak the only options?

Some of the Corvallis bus rides are free.

I have no idea where you see that. The only schedule I see is for one route: Eugene > Corvallis > Albany > Salem > Woodburn > Portland, and return. Shuttles are pretty much the only intercity transit for most places in Oregon. Greyhound and Amtrak service is extremely limited.

Cloudy, if you look at the times of the shuttle you will notice that the departure time from the one in Eugene and the one in Corvallis couldn't possibly be the same shuttle. You don't live here but you might realize that Eugene and Corvallis are about 45 minutes from each other if little to no traffic.

That is the published schedule. I didn't make it. I could make a better one, but that is not my job. Apparently you don't understand that transit schedule times are approximate, not the exact times the shuttle will arrive. According to Google Maps one shuttle could make all of those stops and arrive at PDX at approximately the time shown on the schedule. So it is not impossible for one shuttle to make all the stops, though not at the exact times shown on the schedule.

Their reservations will book travel from Eugene to Corvallis.

Right -- there's no way they're the same shuttle when the Corvallis one leaves 10 minutes later.

Amtrak worked fine when my son was in college.

Was that mainly for occasional visits or regular weekly commutes to/from his classes? Isn't Amtrak expensive if one needs to use it for commuting? Or maybe they have discounts for students?

When I typed my response to the OP's question several weeks ago, it didn't even cross my mind that he/she was considering a regular commute. As another posted noted, public transportation in Oregon isn't that good.
