You know, like this one:

It looks like the laths are 1-1/4"x1/2"x6', more or less, and the wood has been left rough, as it was cut. Trellises like this seem to be ubiquitous, but the wooden laths of which they are made doesn't seem to be available anywhere.

Is there anywhere I can find them around here? We've already checked the usual suspects (Lowe's, Jerry's, a couple of of lumber yards, etc.).

Do you know anyone with a table saw? I would just rip a 2x4 and make my own.

Or just buy a pre-made trellis from the garden section at Home Depot or Lowes or whatever good nursery you like. I have seen ones that look just like the one in your photo on sale in the garden section at Home Depot.

That's exactly what I did. I bought one cedar 2 X 4 and split it into strips 5/16-inch thick on my little table saw. I made a very nice trellis for a climbing rose from those pieces. You could use fir instead, for less money, but it wouldn't last as long. I used small, galvanized nails and urethane glue (Gorilla Glue or Borden's Glue-all).
