Hi -

Thinking about relocating to Oregon approx. June 2011.

What's the honest chance of finding any teaching post?
Would I need to obtain an Oregon license before applying for an opening?

(Would be willing to take part-time positions - I have Minnesota license K-8.)
Thanks!

The outlook is not good. Here's the most recent discussion I can find here on city-data:

It's going to be very difficult to land a teaching job in Oregon. You will definitely need to get your Oregon license before even applying. With the number of qualified applicants out there, school districts are not even considering applicants that are not certified to teach in this state. I know first hand. I've been on the substitute list for 2 years in Central Oregon, and even those jobs are tough to come by. I've spent over $500 getting my Oregon license and haven't worked more than a few weeks substituting. It's a sad situation. Right now I know the Bend-LaPine SD in Central Oregon is not hiring any new teachers pending the governors decision about funding. I don't see this getting any better in the foreseeable future.
