I'm just curious to ask all of you people who were not born in Europe but have travelled there this question. What country is the first one you've ever set foot in in Europe? Personally, mine is Russia (namely Moscow, and St. Petersburg area). It may sound kinda strange considering that most people who visit Europe would first drop by places like the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Greece, the Netherlands or something along those lines... In fact I know only a handful of folks (as in count them with the fingers on one hand) whose first Europe trip was to Russia.
So how about you guys? Pls tell me which country in Europe was your first. Thanks.
Like most Brits I have early childhood memories of places such as Spain and around the Mediterranean. As for my first major European city (outsiode the UK) - Paris.
Portugal. The city of Lisbon, as a small child. The destination was Italy by ocean liner but, departing from New York, Portugal is the first European country one approaches, hence the beginning of a long love affair.
Netherlands for me, visited my sister when they lived there.
