I'm sorry, but this is just drivel. I've lived all my life in Norway, but never seen, heard or read about a dark skinned coastal Norwegians theory anywhere. Infact, I'd argue the coastal people are even paler than other Norwegians. The weather is cloudy and rainy all year out there. The sami people way up north will have a different look though, some of them at least, but they represent a tiny minority of the population.
Weird that you haven`t heard of that. Do you live in Eastern Norway? It is a common discussion along the coast of Norway that the coastal population has been influenced by possible shipwrecked sailors thru the ages. You will find many with VERY dark complection along the coast. My family included. We have members in our family that could easily be taken as Italians.
There is even a large amount of Red haired descendants from the Scottish raid on Norway in the Gudbrandsdal area.
One could hope that the posters were so mature that they started their posts with other arguments than drivel and nonsense.
Nonsense! There are still effects Viking influence in the British Isles, for example in the modern English language there are over 3,000 words which have a Scandinavian origin! More than 1,500 place names are of Scandinavian origin. So there was some strong influence from Danish and Norse settlers, to this day we know they invaded those islands. So it's not just in the Orkneys.
The history of the English language is that the people would not accept the court language of Norman French (a hybrid of French and Norse) and kept up the common language that was a mix of Anglo-Saxon and Norse which later came to be known as English. I do believe older versions of this hybrid language were not just spoken in England. Norse was spoken widely in Scotland and parts of North Wales. Gradually the language spoken by the mass of the population was accepted as the official court language. The language, being a live language and constantly changing, changed as more Latin word were introduced.
Swedish has the same word order as English. That gives a strong clue.
The Viking settlers stayed in the British Isles, they did not go back after Danelaw was overrun. They eventually merged in with Angles, Saxons and Celts. Parts of the country where the Vikings were strong still has some physical influences in the people.
With all the invasions over the years, how can citizens from any European country claim to be pure white or black or whatever?? Every country has a mix of everything. We may be caucasian(guess where they originated from?!) but we're a mixed bag.

What you say is absolutely spot on Maggie, but try telling this to 'some' people on here! For some strange reason they still live by the ideology that all Britons are Anglo Saxon or that all Danes are Vikings, they just cant grasp the fact that Europeans have been mixed breeding for thousands of years, there is even a Frenchman that claims the French and British are different ethnically! he seems to think that there is a 'look' in Britain that is impossible to get in France!! I mean come on!!
Populations have not mixed greatly in the past. Over long periods of time there were migrations but this took thousands of years. Populations got isolated through language, religion and physical barriers to create their own particular mix and developed their unique dna combinations. Genetics can tell where your ancestry is from. Nationalities cluster together by genetics and the population you are likely to be closest to is your neighbour and not a distant country. People that don't want to believe in the science of dna can bury their head in the sand but if you want to believe that an Eskimo is the same as a Kenyan then don't believe what your eyes tell you. Just ignore the obvious.
Yes even in Europe populations remained separated. There are genetic differences between Northern and Southern Europeans and between Western and Eastern. They can even show that Northern Italians cluster differently to Southern Italians.
Some people just want to appear a bit thick no matter what information they are given.
What do you mean by nonsense? I live in Norway and travel to either Denmark or Sweden each year. I know what I see with my eyes, and don`t rely on an Oxford study. There is also differences within Norway. Does your Oxford study say anything about coastal Norway compared to inland?
On what are you basis, are you saying that Norway is darker-haired than Denmark/Sweden? It doesn't matter whether you live in Norway, since you only used your personal judgement which is not enough to be reliable. My declarations are based on scientific evidence released from a medical study which took ten years and then released by the University of Oslo! So who do I believe, you or professional scientists, doctors which appeared in the Oxford medical Journal papers. That is more concrete than what you say, dont you think? More 400,000 women from both Norway and Sweden. Furthermore, these women were enrolled in the Norwegian-Swedish Women's Lifestyle and Health Cohort Study in both 1991 and 1992. In Norway, a random sample of 100,000 women were drawn from the National Population Register at at Statistics, Norway(Oslo, Norway), In Sweden, 96,000 were residing in the Uppsala Health Care Region(Which comprises of one-sixth of the Swedish population) was drawn from the National population Registrater at Statistics Sweden( Stockholm, Sweden). They came from three regions of Norway, southern regions of Norway, Vest-Agder, Aust-Agder, Rogaland, Vestfold, Østfold, and Telemark counties, the middle region of Norway includes Oslo, Akershus, Buskerud, Hordaland, Oppland, Hedmark, and Sogn og Fjordane counties, with population centers of mass located at 59°58′–61°30′ N; the northern region of Norway includes Møre og Romsdal, Sør-Trøndelag, Nord-Trøndelag, Nordland, Troms, and Finnmark counties, with population centers of mass located at 62°44′. The Uppsala Health Care Region in Sweden has the population center of mass located at 59°86′ N. –70°22′ N. Norwegian women were found to be blonder, but only very slightly lighter-eyed. Thus Norway is indeed Scandinavia blondest country!
Put your reading glasses on: I am stating that Vikings did not excist in the 1600s. The Viking age ended in the tenth century. Of course their influence is found everywhere they raided - to this day.
We were referring to their influence which lasted long after they were gone.

My wife is 100% British, yet her 'look' is more German than British. EVERYBODY we came across in Germany thought she was German; when she visited Finland people asked her if she was from Germany
Apparently every Brit is supposed to look something like this:
