I actually listened to Armenian less than a month ago on YouTube, and I can't say which language it resembles to my ear. But I have to say it came off as sounding more European, no language in specific. It does not sound Middle Eastern at all, more European if I had to say. The alphabet on the other hand is totally unique.
Greek. First time I heard it I thought that's what nationality it was - and I am not unfamiliar with Greek, having lived there for a few years when I was a kid.
I do a lot of work for an Armenian general contractor and some of his clients are Armenian. Now I can tell the difference.
