Because she's black.

Flora Conquerel Crowned Miss France - Twitter Responds with Racism - ELLE

I won't quote the article, because it contains the type of language that's not allowed on C-D.

Clearly France has a long way to go.

The coronation of a Black Miss France doesn't bother me in the least, but I will admit, I was furious when they made a Nordic woman Miss Zimbabwe. Go figure...

Isn't that a bit hypocritical? White Zimbabweans are as African as this woman is French...

Anyway yeah, with anonymity people say what they're really thinking...

It is an atrocious way for a segment of any civilised country to behave, it is sad indeed.

It should be remembered though that this kind of thing isn't solely a French issue, idiots, racists, those with small minds and those with agendas are everywhere.... not just France. The ability to reach out and say something stupid on a global media has never been easier.

Yeah I don't think it's a reflection on France anymore than many other countries. I mean what percentage of the French population do these people represent?

...Miss France 2000, Miss France 2003, Miss France 2005, Miss France 2009.
A Black miss France is not a novelty (Miss France 1974 was the first non white Miss France, she is Polynesian).

There is always racists people who scream loudly, nothing new.
There are also been racist reactions to Miss America 2014 who is of Indian descent.

Yes, and that reflected quite badly on the U.S.

I don't believe it did.

It may have reflected badly on certain segments of American society and the members of the population that expound on unsavoury views in this kind of manner. I think most people realise that to brand an entire population with the same reputation as you would a stupid minority is nonsensical.

I believe that the vast majority of people are, thankfully, not that stupid.
