I'm a late 20's single female professional and haven't had the chance to travel nearly as much as I would like and especially not internationally. I recently moved to Philadelphia PA US from Syracuse NY US. I have been itching to go on a trip somewhere ANYWHERE now that I'm in a more accessible city.

I have a friend that keeps her eyes peels for super cheap flights to other countries and usually you need to make a decision right then because the deal will be gone. Last night, she sent me a flight deal that I couldn't pass up - $445 for a round trip ticket to Copenhagen!

I know absolutely nothing about Denmark and never even thought of traveling there, but thankfully I have 8 months to learn as much as I can! I will get into CPH on Sat 11/29 and depart back for USA on Wed 12/3. Everyone tells me it will be cold, but I lived in Syracuse for 4.5 years and we get a TON of snow there. I have a new friend here in Philly that actually moved here from Malmo for 6 months and is now relocating to Amsterdam. When I pulled up the map and saw how close Malmo was, I knew I would have to at least spend a day over there as well.

If anyone has suggestions on what to see, please let me know. Like I said, I've got 8 months to plan. I am not into touristy type things though and will likely couch surf or stay at hostels while I'm there. I would much rather hang with locals and see the REAL Copenhagen than just what's in a pretty tourist magazine.

I am beyond excited!!!

I would highly recommend trying all of the local Danish dishes over there!

As for info about Denmark, Denmark sold us (the U.S.) the Danish West Indies (later renamed the U.S. Virgin Islands) back in 1917. Here's one fact about Denmark which also relates to U.S. history.
