It's a shame you had such a bad experience but as others have said the Irish are not particularly anti-American. I'm Irish and I really like Americans and I'm not unusual in that regard. Time to move on. You say you have spent time in Australia so I hope your experiences are better there.

Very true. People can see the same things differently. No one should be too smug and be willing to take constructive criticism.

You're right. Irish people hate Americans. I'm glad you've shown me how wrong my perception of myself and my country was.
Your limited time in Ireland clearly gives you more insight than my entire life of living there.
