That's your original downtown Helsinki right there.
It is, and could be anywhere in Northern Europe.

But anyway, I want to remind you that 65% of the murders in Finland are committed by alcoholics/drug addicts killing a fellow alcoholic/drug addict. With a knife. Most often these persons have a long history of abuse, homelessness and being total outcasts of the society.
What surprises me in the first place is that this kind of violent subculture can take place in what you yourself describe as a quite perfect society..
This is Helsinki?
I have to admit that quite a few buildings there look like buildings in big Russian cities (not only St. Petersburg,) and some - don't look anything "Russian," but rather very "Nordic."
But then, again, it's a similarity with older Russian building, built in 1800ies most likely, when the presence of European architecture was quite visible in Russia.
-cold weather (at least nine months out of the year)
-rain and gray (yes it is cloudy quite often, even during summer) they have a joke in sweden that says "this year summer was on tuesday"
-you have to understand and adapt to scandinavian style socialism (nanny state type deal), my friend for example couldn't take the fact you can only buy so much alcohol in sweden and you need a Bolaget, she had to drive like 20 minutes to buy a beer from the place where she was authorized to buy it.
- you have to like peace and quiet and nature (a lot of people claim they do but get depressed after a month in the middle of nowhere)

Well I meant the time when Helsinki was made capital and it's central was builded to suit Russian overlords.
And as Ariete says, their economy is not comparable to any of the Scandinavian countries. But its absolutely different from Latvia and Lithuania in all aspects including language, culture, ethnicity, history and economy.
I cannot attest to that: I have been to Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and they all look very similar to each other in terms of culture, architecture and mentality. The only difference I noticed is that Latvia used to be the most Russian friendly, and the other 2 - the least.
Now they all hate Russians for reasons beyond my understanding - Soviet Russia saved them all from German Nazi genocide - they all were doomed to disappear as nations as per Hitler plan. Then USSR invested heavily in them building factories, power stations, infrastructure etc. And in the end all we got is hate. Thank you.
