Well, that would differ from country to country. In the Netherlands it's mostly American and Brittish pop music dominating the charts. And besides that the Dutch pop and folk music.

And dutch folk music is having a revival at the moment since they made a musical about the life of the late Andre Hazes. We call it smartlappen or levenslied (sad songs or song of life)

I love jazz, classical music, several latin rhythms (not reggaeton which is quite popular in many places in europe) more like tango, samba, etc. and ethnic music.
It seems most ofthe people I know like me, mid to late 40´s listen to pop or rock, classic rock Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd...
AC/DC and Queen seem really popular with the 50 year old crowd. Some German rock/pop bands are popular. Their seems to be some interest in Latin music. Women often have a bit softer taste in music though certainly not always.
on the Radio pop and a bit of hip hop, oldies rock and some folk music is about all we have :-(
The mid 20´s to 30´s seem to listen to more electronic stuff, plenty of metalheads, rap, hip hop, pop...
The kids seem to be more into hip hop and pop stuff.
60-70's rock, 90's trashy eurodance, electronic music (progressive, ambient, psychedelic), post-rock, progressive rock, classical. Those kind of things.
