for which countries can/can't join the EU?

Pre-1996 EU member states:

Germany, France, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg (Founders)
UK, Denmark, Ireland (1973)
Greece (1981)
Spain, Portugal (1986)
Sweden, Austria, Finland (1995)

Post-1996 EU member states:

Poland, Czechia, Hungary, Slovakia, Lithuania, Slovenia, Latvia, Estonia, Cyprus, Malta (2004)
Romania, Bulgaria (2007)
Croatia (2013)

Potential EU member states:

Ukraine, Serbia, Bosnia, Albania, Macedonia, Iceland, Montenegro, Moldova

Don't think Switzerland and Norway will ever enter. Why did micro-states like Andorra, Monaco, Liechtenstein and San Marino not join yet?
There is no place for Turkey in this thread since they are not European.

All people in all EU member states should be given the chance to vote for any decisions where their representatives (MPs/lawmakers) want to assign and give up their powers and the sovereignty of their country to other institutions (i.e. the EU).

We should be allowed to vote but last time they let us vote they don't really enjoy the result. So it will probably never happen again.

For now; Serbia, Iceland and Montenegro (two sufficiently rich and one small with an economy on growth) can enter.

The rest out..too economically undeveloped.

Turkey should never enter Europe. 70.000.000 (it would be the first by population if it enters in eu!!) and Muslim.
Historically enemy of Europe. (Ottoman Empire and pirates).
Turkey belongs to Arab/Islamic union

If Poland was too poor to enter, then Serbia and Montenegro are certainly too poor to enter. At least Poland is a developed country.

"Pre-2000" would probably sound better than pre-1996

Iceland don't want to join EU.
Serbia and montenegro are pretty poor in my remember, and they have to much problem to let them come.
