OK, fine. And most secular Frenchmen are in support of this multiculturalism, but how do you convince Muslims to accept multiculturalism?
The greatest, most violent opposition to a multicultural France comes from certain, increasingly influential Muslims who want only one culture in France. Theirs.

You guys don't know what's been going on in France in the last decades. Many politicians have said racist words, targeted the muslim / north african community forever, and I don't mean only the National Front.
Our old President Chirac talked in the 80s about the "smell and noise" coming from a flat occupied by a maghrebian family. Ten years later he supported the football team that won the world cup, in which many were sons or grandsons of north african immigrants. How ironic is that ?
When Sarkozy campaigned for the 2007 elections, he would talk about the "scum" who lived in these places.
Nothing was done for the 2005 riots to try to understand what had happened.
And even many left-wing politicians have had strong words to speak of that minority.
Really, the plant was seed a long time ago, "brown" people suffer from racism and have for the longest time, even if they have french documents. No one represents them at the government, the socialist party in power has always tried to erase / bring down any political leftist activity coming from the poor areas inhabited by these people, fearing that it would lose control.
If I was a young man of north african ancestry in France now, and If I constantly was categorized as a "muslim" by the media, feared by people, jobless, I would maybe start thinking about religion to seek solutions. The problem is that in that case the solutions appear to be wrong.
We are doomed now. The link between communities has been destroyed too long ago and I can't see how it can be repaired in the near future if we keep on addressing false problems.
Yea turns out these controls were more than justified. The chances that your average Ahmed and Muhamed are criminals is much higher than that of Pierre and Philippe.

I read that in france most french of arab origin are chronically unemployed and segregated.... u can't just segregate and discriminate and expect respect back, i am sorry france but u let them into your country and YOU WENT TO THEIRS TO COLONIZE, now deal with the problem properly by addressing the cause!
Well, now we have another hostage situation, and possibly a third on the loose. Maybe a shoot-out at a police checkpoint (the two brothers, the third, or maybe a fourth gunman???). No doubt others will be emboldened by this the longer it goes on. Hate it when I'm right. Wouldn't be surprised if that missing Malaysian jetliner makes an appearance, too.

i met many european muslims and most don't care, in fact most are only muslim by mouth meaning they are muslims because they grew up as such, culture wise they all feel very european and could care less about islam

I think there are moderate Muslims out there, honest and loyal to the country that accepted them. How many are they compared with the (potential) traitors among Muslim population, I can't say, maybe fifty fifty.
But even if theoretically all Muslims would be decent, moderate persons, their number and different culture means that the native, French culture is treatened. Nobody wants their culture treatened, this is why the Maghrebians got rid of the French colonial rule, that was in process of assimilating them into the French culture. Now, the French left the Maghreb but the immigrants of Maghrebian origin are still in France and the Maghrebisation of France continues and I understand and accept the attitude of rejection of some French people toward Muslim or toward any kind of immigrant, Romanian included.
Not in the way NF speaks and does, that is filled with hate and insulting. I think there can be found a solution in a friendly manner, a dialoque between the two groups, natives and immigrants (including descendants of immigrants).
