LA, to me, feels very atypical American.

Relatively few whites, almost no blacks, mostly thin people, small homes on tiny lots, and very localized weather and culture. To me, it's among the least all-American cities, probably along with San Francisco, NYC, Miami and New Orleans.

I said metro so that includes Southern Marin, Northern San Mateo and Western Alameda/Contra Costa.
