I don't know of many. Eddie Izzard has performed in French in France, and I think possibly in German too. In the UK we have a very funny guy called Henning Wehn from Westphalia, who performs in English. It wasn't too brilliant when he first started, but has improved. He still has a very strong accent. Quite bizzare - he came to the UK to work in marketing for Wycombe Wanderers football team and stumbled into stand-up comedy.
He does live shows in small venues all over the country (I've seen him) and is a regular on TV panel shows. He is often a guest on International football coverage, especially if Germany is involved.
In an almost genius way, he has absorbed the crucial differences between the UK and Germany and bases nearly all his material on it. Usually it's a mechanism for showing how superior is Germany to the UK in every possible manner, and he only ever gives backhanded compliments to his host country.
"I'm unknown back home. Frankly, I'm not good enough to cut it as a comedian in Germany. In the UK, all you have to do is lots and lots of swearing. In Germany we don't swear at all. Because everything WORKS!".
My very favourite clip is from the Melbourne comedy festival. He has worked the crowd up to join in a German folksong he sang.
"Yeah - that was fun wasn't it? Only I have to tell you that song has not been heard in public in Germany since the days of the Hitler Youth. You didn't care though did you? You joined in and had a good time. That is EXACTLY the same mistake we made"
He pretends to a very rightwing view of life - whether that is truly him or not I don't know, but it makes a big change from all the leftie comics. Also gets away with some incredibly un-PC stuff, especially regarding The War, than I don't think anyone else would.
I would post a link, but there would be profantities (he is a German who does swear - a bit) and I'm not sure about the rules.
Are there any Polish comedians in Italy? French in Germany? Estonian in Finland (that's a distinct possibilty)?
