When you're feeling like you need to reconnect with a place (in this case Europe) can you do it virtually? Do you turn to movies to lessen the longing for some place you've visited or lived? If so, which movies do it for you?

Here are some of mine off the top of my head (probably mostly because I've recently seen them). I'm always looking for suggestions of movies that are evocative of a place.

Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, Before Midnight
The Trip
The Trip to Italy
Under the Tuscan Sun
Tea with Mussolini
A Room with a View
Museum Hours
The Grocer's Son
Cinema Paradiso
Il Postino
Midnight in Paris
All About My Mother
The Dreamers
The Talented Mr. Ripley
The Red Violin

And many others!

We-ll, since most of my world travels don't include Europe (just (W.)Germany, France, Greece, Minorca, and Italy), it's rather limited.

That said,

Hopscotch
The Eiger Sanction
On Her Majesty's Secret Service
For Your Eyes Only
The Spy Who Loved Me

come to mind.

Hmmmmmm, rather interesting that they would all be spy flicks.

I love spy flicks too. I just watched Two Lives which was interesting. Adding these to my list!

My few favorites are these, but not sure if my longing is lessened or heightened by watching them!

Under the Tuscan Sun
French Kiss
Three Coins in a Fountain
Hm.....I think I see a theme here!
And finally one done in my beloved Belgrade, Serbia, in which one scene was shot on the street where I lived in 2007 Here and There (2009)

ALSO some BBC TV shows help a lot as well.
