I think it's based on preference. My parents are Eastern European but I'm born in the US. The only places in the world where I could see myself retire to is South East Asia, Oceania, Northern Europe, Iceland/Greenland, Eastern Europe, and maybe the Carribean or Argentina (only South American country I'm open to).

Everywhere else, it's just "meh", not because I lack knowledge, but it's because of my preferences. I love the four seasons, I love it when people have *some* freedoms, if there are no four seasons, then I'd prefer the place to be green with beautiful nature all around..... and ofcourse, less Americanized to boot.
