For Russians born in the early to mid 80s 1982-1986, do they have any memories of the Soviet Union and the Cold War??

I'm just curious of this, because I know through reading similar threads that people born in the 60s and early-mid 70s remember the USSR and the Cold War, but I never have gotten an answer when it comes to this one.

Now I might be stupid asking this question, but I am none of the less curious. If they do, would they consider themselves Soviets later turned Russians or do they just consider themselves Russian?

Also, would they have been molded into that Soviet or Cold War mindset/mentality like the others just like how in the U.S, people had a similar mindset/mentality or is that a no?

I'd really like to know! I also would love it if I could get answers directly from them!
I was born in the early 80s and I remember the Soviet Union, then the subsequent change into Federal Russia and currency being completely devalued and prices sky rocketing. Of course, it is my parents who had to deal with the consequences of that, since I was only a kid. To answer your questions:

- I have always considered myself Russian, not "soviet".. that's like asking if russians consider themselves federalist now, because it's now a Federation, and no longer the Council ("soviet").

- The mentality I grew up with was that Americans had it way better than us and that Russia sucks. We had bootleg american tv (Michael Jackson and Arnold were the stars). The minute the borders were opened everyone who could, left.

- As a kid, I did not suffer from any fears that America is trying to destroy us, or that our way of life was very bad (despite the hyper inflation) - I didn't know much better and I think I had a pretty good childhood. I was never envious of any of my peers as I didn't perceive any inequality in life styles... My parents didn't convey any stress to me so maybe I was shielded. We had a lot of free (bootleg) tv and music and more computer games than I ever had since ('cause now I have to pay for them!). I truly don't feel that government is a realistic representation of the mindset of the people.. it's just some random people who seized power.

What a load of delusion!
But I am not surprised, though. The modern national ukrainian ideology is full of ravings and nonsense.

Your statement is incorrect.
1. The Ukrainians participated in the management of the Soviet Union. At that time Ukrainians were part of the Russians.
2. Third World War does not start.
