Last time I heard about him, he had obtained a refugee statue in Austria and a job, good for him.
So, not everyone comes for welfare...
Those in Syria who are really in a critical situation are the poor people, who don't have the money to travel and you won't see in Europe. The people like the dude from your story are opportunists who take advantage of EU's propagandistic policies regarding refugees.
Do these Syrians seek refuge in poor countries as well? Or they just want to take advantage of European wealthfare system? If second, they are not war refugees but economic migrants and immoral parasits.
So where do you think these people would run?
I think that they run in each and every direction, but those from the upper class would prefer Europe for a number of reasons; one of them - that these people are not so used to Islamic oppression.
"The process of secularization in Syria began under the French mandate in the 1920s and went on continuously under different governments since the independence. Syria has been governed by the Arab nationalist Baath Party since 1963. The Baath regime combined Arab Socialism with secular ideology and an authoritarian political system. The constitution guarantees religious freedom for every recognized religious communities, including many Christian denominations. All schools are government-run and non-sectarian, although there is mandatory religious instruction, provided in Islam and/or Christianity. Political forms of Islam are not tolerated by the government. The Syrian legal system is primarily based on civil law, and was heavily influenced by the period of French rule."

well, i'll tell him he is an opportunist next time i see him, i'm sure he will appreciate.
There are 800,000 refugees expected in Germany for this year alone. They don't want to stay in a poorer EU country, they wanna go where the bacon is.
Currently, Germany has 81millions living there, some Germans, some non Germans.
With additional 800,000 people, that means that every 100. person there doesn't speak German. And then there is next year, how many more are going to move there then?
"We have 50 million Muslims in Europe. There are signs that Allah will grant Islam victory in Europe—without swords, without guns, without conquest—will turn it into a Muslim continent within a few decades." - Muammar Gaddafi
Good propaganda. I don't care if Europe becomes Muslim as long as we have a high quality of life. We should learn to be more tolerant of Islam and we should bring a lot more immigrants to increase multiculturalism. The problem is our own racism not Islam.
"in need", and yet they're able pay 5000$ for the travel to europe. it's just pure luxury immigration. they've heard about the hot girls, handouts etc etc from relatives already here. that's what it's all about. the higher the living standard in the 3rd world, the more information they're able to gather via the internet and television, and the more of them will search for a future in europe. BUT: they haven't proven to be able to create or live in such societies themselves. they have a longstanding, noble tradition of creating dumps, and they will manage to make europe a sewer in a few decades too if this suicidal experiment continues.. they want to eat of the cake, but they aren't able to bake it. that's the truth.
What our governments need to do is give immigrants more economic support as they come to establish themselves in Europe. It is up to us to make a better effort to tolerate these new cultures. Only through increased tolerance and the elimination of racism can we keep making Europe a better place. So far I think immigration is going very well and would be open to doubling or tripling current yearly numbers of immigrants.

I seriously hope this post is a joke.
How about securing the borders, and not forcing Europe to be flooded with outsiders? Do you have any "tolerance" for the existing residents of the Continent? Any "tolerance" for their culture, economy, and way of life? I suspect no.
And immigration is going "very well"? 50 bodies found in an Austrian truck? Thousands dead at sea? Terrorists on trains? Food riots in Germany? Fringe right wing parties quickly gaining popularity?
If that's "very well", I would hate to see "very poorly".

good trolling, albeit a bit too obvious to help our cause.
