Bruges or Basel?
Basel, been in the Voguese region a couple times the past years. Beautiful forests, very friendly people, overall very cheap prices. And the French-Swiss-German mix makes for great food and nice architecture.

Hamburg or Rotterdam?

Hamburg or Rotterdam?
Hamburg. The city is an interesting mix of German and Nordic culture. Probably my favourite German city.

Rome or Athens?

Rome. I like Greek culture too but Italy is one of my favorite in Europe.

Choose: Genova or Geneva

Madrid or Rome
Rome. Much deeper history.

Florence or Venice
Venice. Much deeper and unique history and geography. Better comparison would be Madrid or Florence, Venice or Istanbul or Thessaloniki.

Rome or Athens
Rome. There are many places in Greece worth living, but Athens has to be the last of them, what a dump! Better comparison would be Rome or Istanbul (or Moscow or Paris or London).

Bucharest or Lisbon
Great comparison and hard to choose. But Lisbon has the edge because of warmer weather and the ocean.

Napoli or Palermo
Another great pair. Napoli is bigger and more complicated, harder to understand and appreciate. I'd choose Palermo.

Cordoba or Lecce (or Siracusa)?

Genève. I've heard that Genoa is one of the cities in Italy which has the oldest population, and that doesn't attract me.

Aarhus or Kosice?

And being on the German, Czech, Austrian border doesn't seem too bad either!
