Now I am going to be honest with you here. It's no secret that I like Russian girlsand Eastern European girls for that matter, namely the ones from Poland, Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.
That said, I have a relative of mine who is of old age and one that I look up to like a grandmother of mine and I told earlier when I visited her that Russian and East European girls were my personal preference. The conversation started and escalated when she asked me if I have a girlfriend or not. Something that I tried to avoid talking to her about for certain reasons.
She told me that they are not to be trusted and that they come over to get their green card and that I should not get involved with them at all.
Personally I did not believe her and for a while I let it roll off my shoulders, but at the same time I was offended by this because for years I have had this preference.
I have met quite a few Russian and Eastern European girls in the past and they were the nicest girls that I have ever met. They didn't look let alone seem like they were here just to get American citizen ship the fast way if you gt what I mean.
I have met some of them at my school, although they are very assimilated into American society and although I catch their Russian accent every now and then, they seem to have developed a staunch American accent, even the ones who have only been here for a maximum of four years. I do not know how or why they have that, but that is something that I will address in another thread or what someone will address in the comments below.
In the end it all boils down to this question that I would like a straight forward answer to:
Do Russian and Eastern European Women come move to the United States, let alone come over to America and date and marry American men just to get citizenship from them or do they come over her to look for a better life and other reasons beyond that such as an education in the United States?
Is the thing that my relative believes in for the most the part something of the past now? I certainly hope so! Not just for my sake, but for another guys out there who could end up falling victim to that sorta thing.
Many emigrants left Russia for economic reasons in the 90s. At that time marriage for a green card was possible. At present, I think situation improved. But, of course, you can meet with the scammers, but I think it does not depend on nationality.
Classmate my wife went to the US about 10 years ago, she get married an American, living together, they have two children.
I think that the situation may be different.
I wouldn't say all of them are like your relative says, but a good deal of them are. We have the same here in western Europe with Eastern girls trying to get here through marrying WE men. There are hundreds of agencies providing services for single men to get single EE girls.
A few years back I hired a guy to supervise a construction job. He did a lot of jobs in Poland before and had a girlfriend there and a even a house that was paid for and all. He had saved enough money to retire in Poland and live there "like a king in France" as we say. He could provide for her and her son, and even her parents.
But she wanted nothing to know of that. She insisted on coming over to Holland with her son and get married and live here with him and made it very clear there was no negotiating about that. He asked for my advice because he was scared that as soon as she would be here a few years and have her papers she'd leave him with half of his money.
As it was already so obvious for him what she was planning, I advised him to dump her, go on with his live and stick to his plan to retire in Poland. I mean if she really loved him, she would have lived with him anywhere, Poland or Holland, no matter what, right? I don't know if he ever did.
That's just one of many stories, I'm sure there are just as much good stories, so all I can say is be careful. And be warned.
From what I've seen in the "yellow news" and from my friends Russian women first prefer Russian men (or other Slavic men) and also Italians or Spaniards.
Some examples: Maria Sharapova dating tennis player Grigor Dimitrov, Alena Shishkova dating some russian...Alla Pugachova singer Kirkorov etc. I also know two guys married to Russian women and they're from another slavic country.
The only example I can think of is Mila Kunis and she's Ukrainian/Jewish, not Russian.
I think the ones who like Americans the most are British or Swedish...
Also: There is big difference between Russia and the rest of Eastern Europe. There's also difference between Poland and say Belarus. Poland is basically Western Europe these days and so is the Czech Republic. The only "eastern" are the Balkans + Belarus and Ukraine. Russia is in its own league.

Though Eastern European not Russian, the pattern is well known at least here in New York along with perhaps Miami, Los Angeles and anywhere else wealthy or just comfortably well off men can be found.
Many of the "bottle girls" or hostesses at the most popular clubs and bars in NYC are Russia or Eastern European. You also find them well represented in the model and mistress world as well.
Either way there is reputation about Eastern European women including Russians that they are very focused on one goal and will do what is required including using what they've got to get what they want.

It does not hurt that Eastern European countries produce some very attractive men and women. If you look at a list of EE countries; Belarus, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, and Ukraine, then compare where a good amount of porn (both gay and straight) is made and nationally of actors you begin to see a relationship. Sadly no small amount of sex trafficking involves females from these same countries.
On another note the Ukraine (Kiev) is one of the largest commercial baby surrogacy centers in the world. Couples and singles both gay and straight flock to Kiev if they want a white/European infant.
Long story short Russia/EE has an abundance of what many American and Western European men want, a white/European female as a wife. OTOH EE/Russian women want to get out of their countries for various reasons, so it works out well for everyone long as each person is on the same page.

Some older, out of shape, unattractive guy (no offense) thought he hit the jackpot now finds out once his wife comfortably has her papers she wants out. Some married American men to either bring drugs or other illegal products to America or to act as an anchor in order to bring relatives over to America from Russia. How often does this happen today, I don't know? But it did happen often in the 90s. Now, there are many not connected to the mafia who go after American men in order to get away from the local men who are hard core alcoholics and regularly beat their wives or girlfriends with little to no fear of the authorities. While spousal abuse does happen in USA, there are legal protections available and such behavior isn't as socially acceptable as it is in parts of eastern Europe. There's also the possibility they're after your money. Americans who have the disposable income to travel to eastern Europe for a bride tend to have above middle income. Depending on the state laws, a divorce would instantly give the bride half of her husband's money which is far more than she could ever hope to get in eastern Europe.

I mean the minute they get it, they lose all their charm and attraction or what's the deal?
