P.S. Here Travric - that's the latest proof of what I was talking about.
What do you think this huge line is for?
Consumer goods? No, Russians are willing to stay for hours in this freezing cold just to see the exhibition of their favorite painter - the classic of previous century.

Western sanctions nor did not affect fundamentally the economy. the economy simply changed in the other direction. in turn, this is a chance for people who are engaged in business. with regard to the exclusion, it is obvious that a country with such geography cannot be isolated.
With regard to ordinary people. the depreciation of the ruble to the dollar, it is obvious that the purchasing power for goods manufactured abroad, fell 2 times a (in 2015 year decreased 2 times).
This will occur until we abandon the dollar. in this case, it is sufficient to just 2 years to all people in the country lived in very high living conditions and did not need anything. the course of various foreign money is determined by only 7 people in London. This happens twice a day.

Russians on this thread say it is doing OK while Europeans are saying not so much.

I guess I'd have to side with the native Russians because they have a first hand experience on how the economy is doing

Russians’ Anxiety Swells as Oil Prices Collapse

KRASNODAR, Russia — Last year was bad enough financially for Sergei and Victoria Titov, both music teachers getting along in years. Her government salary was slashed by one third, and rampant inflation put some basic groceries like eggplant and cucumbers out of reach.

But you must remember that Russians have their own economy standards. Russian economy was bankrupt 18 years ago and Russians remember those days.

Yes, it's funny. People stand to see the unique exhibition of rare paintings in freezing cold for several hours. Yesterday people broke door, because museum wants to closed for the night! Several field kitchens deployed there today.
