A million refugees and economic migrants are using small boats to get from Turkey to Greece. Logically Europe would have some type of Coast Guard to push those boats back to Turkey. Much like the American Coast Guard will push the boats full of Migrants from landing on our shores. Turn the boats back before they get to the shores of Greece.

What am I missing?

United Nations countries have to share refugees based on their economic situations and land width. You have no such an option to reject to take refugees.

What if the situation gets much worse with 10 million people start flooding in from Africa and the Middle East. Would they still follow the United Nations rules? The 10 million figure has been discussed as very likely in future years as the population of Africa booms and poverty gets worse.

Then we will share 10 million. Turkiye was the only country who offered to create fly no safe zones in Syria for civilians to prevent any other humbub but you rejected it. Now deal with it.

I am so proud of you for your agreement that you will take care of these nice people. But eventually so many people will flood in that the United Nations rule will be ignored. It is already happening with the trapped migrants in Greece.

There already is such an operation going. It's called Frontex, it started becoming fully operative in 2011 due to the requests of the Italian government who was left to deal with a record high amount of migrants coming from sea after the Gaddafi's government (with which Italy had signed a treaty to stop the flux of migrants) was overthrown.

Frontex is carrying operation Triton between Italy and Libya, Poseidon between Greece and Turkey. The problem is that the EU and Frontex have asked Greece and Italy for hotspots which are centers where migrants can be identified, apply for asylum and wait for the final response. Italy was able to complete the building of these hotspots and to guarantee a decent level of assistance but Greece wasn't.

Frontex is a failure improb.

And so is Schengen.

Schengen has nothing to do with the current crisis.
