There are effectively zero Dutch or Scandinavian people in Latin America.

As far as Europeans go, there are very few expat Europeans in Mexico, for instance. Using Mexico because they actually get the most ex-pats in terms of raw numbers. Under 80,000 Europeans move there for a country with a population of 122 million. In comparison there are almost a million American expats in Mexico.

Most other latin American countries have even fewer ex pats, both as % of population and raw numbers.

The exception is Argentina. They get quite a few Italian and Spanish ex pats, which makes sense based on the demographics of Argentina. However almost no Europeans from countries outside of Italy and Spain move there.

They don't live there, they just stay there a few months and then travel to their countries or Asia, they are no "expats" or "immigrants".
Germans are all over Latin America, many stay there months, go away and return.
Dutch, LOTS as they have colonies there, check it in kmartpedia.
Swedes and Scandinavians, everywhere in which there's sun and nature and not many Americans.
RUSSIANS.
Italians, no "expats or immigrants" but long stays, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Cuba.
Not counting immigrants still alive, maybe millions.
They are no expats as they don't need to be expats.

No, that is just wrong. There's maybe 10,000 germans in all of South America. There are almost no Dutch people. Maybe 6000. You could ask a Dutch if they go to latin america and they would just look at you strangely.

Scandinavians also do not go to Latin America. No latin american country is in the top 25 travel destination for any Scandinavian tourist.

The notion that Scandianvians want to avoid Americans is also untrue. When they travel outside of Europe, the USA is the top vacation destination for Norwegians, Swedes and Danes. Main destinations are LA, NYC and Miami. Norwegian Airlines has dedicated non stop shuttle routes for vacationers going to these cities.

Even Russian is wrong... if Russians want to go to "Latin America" they go to Miami.

The answer for all this is simple and obvious... cost. It costs three times as much to go from Europe to anywhere in South America as it does to go to Thailand or the USA. It costs five or ten times as much to go from Sweden to Argentina as it does to go to Spain. Why would anyone bother? Well.. they don't.

Yes, there are loads of Italians in Argentina but that is because it's one of the largest european groups that settled there.

Whatever, next time I'll read the Nebraska News!!

Most Lat-Am destinations can be had for less than 550€. Air France, Kondor, you name it.

Many flights to Lat Am have some American hub, that's why they might appear as US visitors. EEC members have to fill ESLA and they appear as US visitors. MIA is always packed with Germans and Scandinavians, but very soon they disappear for Costa Rica, Belize, Peru or whatever.

Russians travel to Miami, they have an enclave there called Sunny Isles, but also to Cuba, a friendly and familiar country and now PUTIN is promoting tourism even though they don't go to soviet style resorts. Not only Russians, former COMECON members and MANY tourists from former East Germany....CHINESE..

Scandinavians travel for months, so you can see them wandering from Lat-Am to Lat-Am country, places related with nature.

As as I said, French and Holland have territories in the area, Caribbean and the continent. Lots of public servants, many ducth.

There are areas in Mexico as safe and with a higher quaity of life than in Spain, and viceversa. Cartels are everywhere.
