I believe that it has been provisionally transformed in Flüchtlingheim, asylum for illegal migrants.
Soon the whole of Germany will be a Flüchtlingsheim anyway.

Again, OP could simply google for the information. A fine article explaining the situation shows up as the first result.

Likewise, wikipedia offers a reasonable explanation.

I often wonder how people can't figure out internet basics but somehow end up on City Data?

They had 25 million slaves and 10 million refugees not long ago, I don't know why are they are so nervous.
Can't they put those Syrians to work as they did with French, Russians, Dutch, etc, and with my great uncle captured in France?
He never returned, so he must be there.

I read couple of articles and it seems the reason is massive bureaucracy.

Such a shame!!!

It looks like a beautiful airport.

I emailed my elder German grandson, who's in his second year at Kleve University to ask him to define Flüchtlingheim.
He said, "Opa, it literally means refugee camp, but you could describe all of Deutschland as Flüchtlingheim right now.

It does not literally mean refugee camp. That would be Flüchtlingslager. And Germany is certainly not one big refugee camp.

Sure, the situation is far from being awesome, but people should stop being overly dramatic...
