Another was all the special rules for handicap people... it really was not part of my German experience in the 1980's.
I'm not coming down on either side... just saying we have more in common than different and spending a few weeks in the States can really change your prospective.
I kid you not... I had two exchange students that came for several months... their families insisted they take martial arts class before coming to stay with me in Oakland...

Not lacking, but I don't know any German programs like The Office or Big Bang Theory, for instance. German TV is horrible, frankly. Or soap operas, German ones are decades behind Brazilian ones and appear unprofessional to me. Not to mention that I hate to hear that forced High German dialect that is usually used.
In terms of music I am also American. The music that I like is either rarely made in Germany or simply copied from Americans.
